The Land of Smiles offers you lots of interesting places to see, culture to experience, and fun activities to enjoy. So, if you want something out of the usual on your next holiday, better get yourself ready for a one-of-a-kind backpacking trip.
What documents do you need to bring?
If you come from one of the ASEAN nations, you only need a passport to enter the country. If not, then you need to secure a travel visa. It should be noted though that Thailand usually offers a free 30-day tourist visa exemption for many nationalities. This free entry is given at the airport upon arrival. A 15-day visa can be availed by those travelling to the country by land, too.
On the other hand, if you are in the country for work, business, or family vacation that would take more than 30 days, then you will have to apply at one of the Thai embassies.
What to pack?
The rule of thumb when it comes to backpacking is, pack light! The country can be best enjoyed to the fullest with a single carry-on, and the following is a checklist of what you should bring along:
What not to bring along?
Of course, if there are some things you should not leave without, there are also items that you had better leave at home. Here are some of them:
Over-the-counter meds (you can easily find them here)
Heavy jacket (anything heavier than a windbreaker is a no-no)
Tissue (can buy them at any grocers)
Umbrella (very cheap here)
Sandals or flip-flops (super affordable in local markets)
Secure all the essentials and you are off to an exciting holiday on the road. But if, on the other hand, you are looking forward to a more relaxing and luxurious getaway, check out the gorgeous villas here at Villa Zamani.
